Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Our comprehensive approach to whole girl development equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. These positive outcomes are achieved through three core elements: people - trained staff and volunteers who build lasting, mentoring relationships; environment - girls-only, physically and emotionally safe, where there is a sisterhood of support, high expectations, and mutual respect; and programming - research-based, hands-on and minds-on, age-appropriate, meeting the needs of today’s girls. Informed by girls and their families, we also advocate for legislation and policies to increase opportunities for all girls and address the systemic barriers that impede girls’ success, particularly girls in low-income communities and girls of color.
Girls Inc. of Chicago, incorporated in November 2016, is the newest affiliate of the national network of Girls Inc. organizations with the shared mission to inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold.
Girls Inc. of Chicago has an exciting opportunity for a Part-Time Youth Program Facilitator. Under the direct supervision of Girls Inc. of Chicago’s Director of Programs, the Youth Program Facilitator is responsible for implementing and adapting a wide variety of enrichment activities for grades K-8 in both in and after-school program settings, with special emphasis on K-3. The facilitator serves as a positive role model of character and leadership. They are responsible for the supervision and care of up to 20 girls, daily, and ensures the implementation of a high quality, research-based curriculum by providing a safe, supportive, interactive, and engaging environment and assure the safety and well-being of all girls.
Plan, teach, supervise and organize a broad range of workshops and activities for girls in Kindergarten-8th grades
Display the highest ethical and professional behavior and standards when working with students, parents, personnel, and other stakeholders associated with the program.
Develop relationships with girls & their families and provide individual support ensuring their ability to effectively engage in the program
Develop classroom and behavioral management skills
Effectively track each girls’ progress in the program, using a comprehensive tracking database
Support with the planning and implementation of special events/projects, in and out of the school(s)
Conduct essential tasks to ensure the maintenance of program equipment and materials
Attend regular staff meetings, trainings and work in collaboration with staff at the partner school(s)
Provide feedback on impact of the programming to the Director of Programs.

Essential Knowledge and Skills
Passionate about the Girls Inc. mission and values.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of early childhood education, youth growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning and knowledge of equity issues facing girls of color.
Must be punctual, prepared, have a positive attitude and is at ease with, (and adept at) using, a variety of lively program techniques (brainstorming, role-playing, etc.)
Must be self-directed, detail oriented with proven written and oral communication skills, as well as group facilitation skills.
Excited about the challenge of building on the legacy of Girls Inc. nationally to define the future impact of Girls Inc. of Chicago.
Superb analytical thinking, data analysis, interpretation and application, and decision-making abilities.
Must have earned (or in the process of completing) an Associates or Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Youth Development, Human Development or related discipline.
Candidates must pass criminal history records check, and drug screening, in addition to other safety requirements.
A minimum of 1 year prior experience working with youth.
