Assists in coordinating and leading a wide range of academic, recreational, and personal supportive services for at-risk youth (ages 9-14) in an afterschool program.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
After-school Program Facilitator
Assist in the planning and implementing an after-school youth program for youth.
Report directly to program Director
Support, enhance, and foster a youth-adult partnership in their leadership style. The program is youth-lead and so youth-voice and decision-making are essential elements.
Support, enhance, foster and ensure an oppression-free zone within the program.
With youth and staff, plan & facilitate daily learning activities such as, leadership development, restorative justice, multicultural awareness, homework help and social change planning.
Develop and plan field trips, parent events and community events
Develop and maintain relationships with parents, school staff and other key adults with whom each student interacts
Work with the Youth Director and Program staff on program evaluation and planning.
Assist in keeping written records, maintains daily sign in sheets.
Be on-time, reliable, prompt and proactive
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field preferred; 1+ years experience working with disadvantaged children and families of various cultural/ethnic backgrounds. Strong preference for bi-lingual (Spanish-English) speaking abilities. YDPCP certification a plus.
