We are seeking a dynamic Instructional Designer & Learning Facilitator who will be responsible for the development and delivery of training methods and products for Act First Safety, Dental Practice Safety and its partners.
The position includes assessing existing and future training materials and programs against industry and/or Ministry of Labour learning outcomes and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) to produce exceptional learning products that are in compliance with and satisfy required approvals for delivery.
This position actively develops through research, creative design and implementation of suitable delivery formats effective methods to educate and enhance the performance of the company's learner profiles.
Provide subject matter expertise and application in adult learning theory, learning and development best practices, facilitation and other related training methodologies
Project manage the end-to-end training product development, delivery and review under clearly communicated and agreed upon deliverable timelines
Identify and/or create desired performance outcomes and learning objectives based on consultation with owner, other subject matter experts, industry sector standards, Ministry of Labour directives or specific client learning gap needs
Gather learning content and resources as provided by owner, subject matter experts and/or own research efforts
Create lesson plans outlining training strategy, content flow, and resources utilized
Create program delivery and learning aids that support learning outcomes and methodologies such as PowerPoint, facilitator guides, workbooks, case studies, handouts, job aids and appropriate image/graphic selections and video inserts
Ensure all learning objectives are achieved in course designs, and other supporting documents are completed to allow for efficient course approval by relevant parties
Develop theoretical and practical learner evaluation methods
Manage document and other learning resource version controls, storage and access
Keeping current with emerging learning/training trends and innovations
Develop potential e-learning modules
Develop event presentations for Town Halls and other OHS information sessions
Develop learner course evaluation materials to establish success benchmarks and areas of improvement to the learner experience and opportunities to increase learner understanding, retention and application of program knowledge and skill expectations
Evaluate training programs, delivery methods and materials, identify areas of improvement and implement changes as needed
Support other learning facilitators and act as a resource in their understanding of the instructional design, program content and learning outcomes
Participate in the annual strategic planning process of program offerings
Deliver instructor-led training based on approved designs and with a demonstrated level of subject matter expertise in a variety of learning environments and be flexible and accommodating as needed to achieve successful delivery of instruction in each unique environment
Self-manage behaviours and interactions with clients and other employees to be representative of Act First Safety's policies of professionalism and customer service
Manage all aspects of the learning experience when facilitating and promote the creation of a respectful atmosphere for learners
Assess learner's individual achievement of learning objectives including observed and written evaluation tools
Manage learning resources to ensure they are in good supply, condition and availability including printed materials, demonstration tools, laptop, projector, screen etc.
Drive to clients locations and transport training materials and equipment for the purposes of training delivery
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Post-secondary education or equivalent experience
Certification in Adult Education, Training and Development or equivalent
Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP)
3 to 5 years experience designing and delivering adult training
An identifiable instructional design methodology
Excellent presentation and learning facilitation skills applied in a respectful and non-judgemental manner to a varied demographic of learner types (e.g. cultures, genders, industries, educational backgrounds and levels)
Understanding and application of adult learning principles
Application of instructional and technical writing and graphic design principles
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Analytical and critical thinking skills
Outstanding organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, highly disciplined and self-directed
Proficiencies in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
Knowledge of other multi-media tools such as photo and video editing software
Additional knowledge in a rapid e-learning creation tool
Knowledge of or training experience in Occupational Health and Safety preferred
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
When performing facilitation duties, employee delivers instruction either at the client's location or the Act First Safety training facilities. Start times are typically 8 am with an arrival time of 7:30.
Opportunity to work from home-based office
Some weekend and evening work may be required at times to meet seasonal training demand
