Manager, Talent Management & Organizational Development
Reporting to the Manager of Talent Management & Organizational Development, the Learning and Development Specialist is responsible for assessing employee learning needs, the design and delivery of appropriate interventions (in-class or eLearning, facilitation, job aids, etc.) and assisting the OD Consultants with initiatives as appropriate.
The Learning & Development Specialist is responsible for:
Plan and conduct needs analyses/performance gap analyses (via meetings, focus groups, surveys), analyze data collected, identify gaps and learning requirements, and prepare recommendations
Develop individual, and team learning plans that are in line with hospital and departmental strategic objectives.
Create learner centered/performance based instructional materials, manuals, eLearning, and job aids that support learning transfer
Develop, deliver or coordinate blended learning programs (in-class, online or via a vendor)
Deliver learning according to adult learning principles using a variety of instructional delivery and evaluation strategies
Manage event logistics and vendors
Evaluate learning initiatives and measure learning transfer and retention
Facilitate employee engagement interventions including survey follow-up, action planning, team building and leader/team coaching to improve overall effectiveness
Manage Tuition Reimbursement Program, respond to employee inquiries, process approvals and disbursements
University Degree/College Diploma in a related field of study (Human Resource Management, Education, or Organizational Development) or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Certificate in Adult Education is required
A CHRP/CHRL, CTP or CTDP designation is preferred
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in instructional design, delivery and evaluation, preferably in a healthcare setting
Sound knowledge of adult education theories and principles and application in instructional design, conducting needs analysis, facilitation techniques, designing curriculum for in-class or eLearning
Experience developing leadership/management development programs as well as employee onboarding, regulatory and compliance training programs
Experience with performance gap analysis, design of learning plans and coaching
Expertise with eLearning module design and video editing is required
Proficient/advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint) and eLearning authoring programs/applications (e.g. Adobe Captivate/Articulate or other SCORM-compatible software).
Experience working with a Learning Management System a strong asset
Demonstrated strong written communication skills to produce clear, concise and effective educational materials, presentations, reports etc.
Demonstrated facilitation, verbal communication and interpersonal skills (consulting, relationship building, and presentation/public speaking)
Must be comfortable engaging and facilitating sessions with all levels of employees and management in the organization
Knowledge and understanding of community health and long term care within the context of the broader health care system and working in a unionized environment an asset
