Girls Inc. of Chicago has an exciting opportunity for a Part-Time Youth Program Facilitator. The Youth Program Facilitator is responsible for implementing and adapting a wide variety of enrichment activities for grades K-8 in both in and after-school program settings. Facilitators will be responsible for conducting curriculum-based activities and discussions designed to increase knowledge, strengthen self-confidence, and cultivate communication and other pro-social skills.
Creating, preparing for, and facilitating daily hands-on and intentional activities within our Core Essential Services (Healthy Living, Academic Enrichment and Support, Life Skills)
Facilitating daily homework and tutoring activities
Ensuring girls safety both physically and emotionally through active supervision while they participate in program activities, homework time, field trips, and informal time
Keeping accurate records of attendance
Evaluating programs for effectiveness of intended outcomes
Being a mentor and leader setting a positive example and role model for the girls
Participating in staff trainings, meetings, and events
Maintaining organization and cleanliness of programming areas, resources, and supplies
Creating a pro-girl environment and interacting with families in a positive and welcoming way
Other duties as assigned
Essential Knowledge and Skills
Passionate about the Girls Inc. mission and values excited about working with youth in grades Kindergarten-8th
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of early childhood education, youth growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning and knowledge of equity issues facing girls of color.
Self-directed, detail oriented with proven written and oral communication skills, as well as group facilitation skills.
Outstanding interpersonal/communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to girls’ development and opportunities
Must have reliable transportation and valid driver license and insurance
Have earned (or in the process of completing) an Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field
Be reliable and able to work the entire school year. Our girls get attached to their facilitators and it is difficult for them when they are changed in the middle of the school year.
Be willing to work a part-time schedule; Mon-Fri, 1:30-5:30PM
Be high-energy, have a positive attitude and is at ease with, (and adept at) using, a variety of lively program techniques (brainstorming, role-playing, etc.)
Candidates must pass criminal history records check, and drug screening, in addition to other safety requirements.
A minimum of 1-year prior experience working with youth.
