The Team Lead, Learning Design, is a corporate-wide learning performance specialist providing leadership and oversight in the design of CIHI education courses and products intended for various Canadian health care settings and audiences.
Leading a team of instructional/curriculum designers and developers, the Team Lead provides guidance to subject matter experts across the array of activities in course development, including: front-end analysis, needs analysis, design, development and evaluation of learning activities.
We are looking for individuals who can:
Lead an instructional design/development unit that focuses on front-end / needs analysis, design, development and evaluation of learning activities.
Consult with and advise program areas on specific education strategies and processes as it relates to instructional and curriculum design.
Act as project manager when required for major education initiatives, including the preparation of project-related documentation (e.g. project phases and plans, issues document, training and support materials).
Provide expertise and guidance in the planning and logistic management of education courses and products.
Supervise and assist Education and Conference staff through performance measurement, support, feedback and coaching/training to improve individual skills to ensure the delivery of quality products and relating to education operations, conference and trade show planning and management.
Produce briefing notes/background material, budgets, work plans, etc. to support strategic and operational directions for education and conference department initiatives.
Monitor and evaluate, on a regular basis, the current state of CIHI education offerings, and develop recommendations regarding any processes/approaches or materials to ensure the overall quality of education initiatives at CIHI.
Contribute to the promotion of CIHI products and services through participation on committees, presentations and/or attendance at conferences, preparation of articles for publication and other activities, as required.
Knowledge and Experience:
Graduate degree or professional designation in a relevant field (e.g. Bachelor of Education/Educational Technologies Degree, Formal Instructional Design or e-Learning certification/accreditation, etc.) or equivalent education and experience.
A minimum of 5 years of related experience, including development, delivery and evaluation of all modes of learning products (e.g. e-learning, web conference, workshop, etc.).
Advanced knowledge of, and recent work experience with, Learning Theory, instructional strategies, curriculum standards, performance support and assessments for all modes of delivery, e.g. synchronous and asynchronous.
Experience leading teams and projects.
Excellent interpersonal, presentation and communication skills.
Strong experience in managing projects with various internal groups.
Superior conceptual and problem solving skills.
Strong negotiating and facilitation skills.
Ability to meet moderate travel requirements.
Familiarity with the health care system and CIHI’s products and initiatives is an asset.
Fluency in both official languages in an asset.
